replacing the lcd screen on mpc2000

I read up that when you replace your lcd screen on the 2000 or xl models it is recommended that you replace the ribbon cable. Has anyone done this or is it just easier to get one with the cable that matches ?? because i know the xl model has a longer cable than the 2000 model.

When you buy the screen it comes with the cable already...

yeah i know that's the easier way I actually replaced my ribbon cable works really good
