Peace to all fellow MPC users,
Man, I havent posted on here in a while. But, rereading the Beat Making on the MPC 2000xl, I revisited the Emulating Timbre Changes section which is very useful info for what I would like to accomplish with my drums, get some realistic feel of variation in my snares and kicks without using a variant of snares and kicks. The next section discusses Building Performance and GM Kits, which involves using a couple of kicks, snares and hi hats. My question is, if I am using the emulating timbre changes technique, why would I want to build a kit with a couple of kicks snares hi hats etc? Is this just another option for those that want to use a variety of samples versus messing with the timbre changes? I currently do use more than one type of drum sample but would like to eventually just use one type of kick though it might be layered with another one, same with the snare but using timbre changes so I dont have to do too much searching you know. Please dont be too harsh, I know how some heads can get;)) Here is a link to my tracks:

Peace and thank you for any responses.
