Whatup boards?! XL startup problem tips wanted (image)

Whatup guys!
im wondering if any of yall has ever had this problem and more importantly has an solution!
im starting to feel depressed about this sampler man..

i already had to send it to the repair once (guy sold me the XL with a shady carddrive the sh!t didnt work).
now im rockin a floppy wich isnt that bad but i would love to cop the cf drive and keep it movin.. but i digress..

problem is.. after a session of sampling choppin and beatmaking couple of months ago (yeah.. i had this problem for a while..) i just recently switched my mpc back on and i was surprised to see this screen (see image)..
now i dont know what the hell went wrong but i do know that the last session i had teh XL on for about 3 hours straight..
could that be the problem?

definitely not...there are dudes around here who leave the thing on for months at a time.

i think this HAS been covered around here, but i dont know the answer myself or even what to tell you to look for.

my first guess would be memory. can you take the memory out of the machine and see if it turns on then?
second guess would be disk drive. with the memory out (just to eliminate that variable), also unplug the disk drive cable from the motherboard.

barring all that, your mobo might be shot. this is repairable, but is probably going to involve you taking apart the entire machine. shouldn't be THAT bad - think about it like restoring a vintage car.

Yeah, I think so too. I think it is due to faulty SIMM memory. Remove the SIMMs from the slot on your 2000XL, and see if it boot up.

im scared as fugg to unscrew the XL but i want it to work so..
there's really nothing left to do..

^^ nothing to be scared... just keep a trace where you took those screws, be organized when you do this, everything else is just unscrew and put those screws back... easy, also on the XL you only need to remove the bottom part of your MPC to be able to access those SIMM RAM... so it is even easier
