HELP!!!MPC2000XL Harddrive

Hey, i need some help concerning my 2000Xl. i currently have a 32MB Cf card,that is way to little space for the sounds i have backed up. i just recently sold my 5000 and with that machine i was able to change the 70gig Hard drive for my 500gig PC hard drive, and that was a huge help. i wanna know if i can do the same thing with my 2000XL, cause i really wanna avoid purchasing the SCSI device or the Zip Drive or the MS/SD/SM cards. if anyone has a smart solution for me it would be appreciated.

I believe 9 gigs is the max size for a hard drive.. however maybe you could load up 4 hard drives, the cf, to the machine... that will cost you though. The best possible solution I guess would be a half a dozen scsi cf readers with 32 gig cards.

I forget the max cf card using os120, I think it was 1gb+.

yeah it's either 1 or 2 gigs.. or some people had 2 gig cards but could only use one gig... I have never been 100% on that because I only ever had 1 gig ones.

but, with os 1.14, cf adapters using the IDE port can handle 32 gigs, however what about via the scsi adapter? Is it the same?

i have an 18 gb drive too but it came with roughly around 18 one gb partitions ..... i always hear people sayin the partitioned there drive or there flash car or some sort i was wondering how is this done are you using the mpc to partion or a comp???

From my experience, using a non-swappable IDE CF card reader with 1GB CF card is the most cost effective and useful solution, as far as I know.

A potential problem with having SCSI hard drive inside your 2000XL is that you cannot transport the files on the SCSI hard drive easily between the SCSI drive and your computer. Even if you get a external SCSI hard drive and SCSI port on your computer, you can only access to the first partition from your PC. And used SCSI device is very expensive anyway.

With a non-swappable IDE CF card reader, you can transport data between 2000XL and your PC easily, with USB CF card reader, which means that you can transfer files between your XL and any PC with USB port.

1GB limit might be your concern, but since you can make back up CF card's content to your PC, the 1GB card does not have to be full of data. 2000XL's max RAM is 32MB, so 1GB is sufficient, if you can organize files on the CF card.

Around 50 bucks (Addonics IDE CF card reader with metal mount, and 2GB Sandisk CF card) you can upgrade your 2000XL with non-swappable CF card reader.
