Using outboard effects with MPC

I have a Pioneer Efx-500 unit, i currently have it set up like this
MPC----->Mixer------>Pioneer EFX----->CPU(recorder). The problem with this set up is i can only add effects live when multitracking my sounds to the recorder. My question is how do i set it up so i can add effects directly to the MPC, and have it assigned to each sound as is if I had the EB16 onboard effects. I've heard some mixers have efx send and recieve my mixer does not have that if someone can explain how that feature works maybe thats what i need. Also my Pioneer efx has MIDI ins&outs ive attempted to have the MPC trigger the EFX and some how save that directly into the MPC but no luck. Thanks peace

If you have midi capabilities on the pioneer you could go mpc out to efx in.Efx out to mpc in.The other mpc midi out to the mixer and then from the mixer to your computer.I think that could do it.I'm not too familiar with your kind of setup but maybe this can point you in tthe right direction at least.Let me know how it works out.I'll try to fiqure out some other way if this doesn't do it....Peace

I should have pointed out that im just using an 07 vestax mixer which has no midi ins or outs. But your idea sounds like it might work i guess im going to have to save up for a mixer. thanks for the help

You would need the 8 outputs board to be able to isolate different MPC sounds you want to add effects to.
Effects send & return on a decent studio mixer gives you control over how much signal from different channels you send out into the effects. For example, you might want a little reverb on a snare but a lot on a cymbal. The return side gives you control over the balance of the effect's output within the overall mix.
Some DJ mixers have effects send & return sockets, but these usually only puts the effect 100% on a selected channel or across the output.

Weigh up whether you should get the internal effects board & do this inside the MPC, or get the 8 outputs board & a mixer.[/quote]

Thanks for the info, if I understand correctly the only way to add effects to sounds and have them saved on the MPC with effects would be to buy the internal effects. Any other alternative would mean adding effects when recording to another source. Please correct me if im wrong..thanks
