Internal zip drive

What type of internal zip drive will fit in a 2000

I have gone back to a 2000 as I don't rate the 2500
And I want to use the zip discs from my old set up

I want to put a 250 Iomega in but I know there are different types
And I don't want to buy the wrong one

I know they are 32 pin IDE but that's it

So what does the floppy drive plug into??

^^ into a floppy port - 34pins, IDE has 40pins

I assumed the 34 pin cable was still called an IDE

However neither one of you have actually answered the question

You can't install a ZIP drive in to the 2K, if you saw somebody doing this it is because they spend lots of money buying the SCSI to IDE adapter (like $120) and they mod their MPCs, which IMO looks bad with the ribbon cable outside the MPC case.

Thats a shame my 2kxl had an internal zip drive, and I assumed that you could do the same in the 2k

If your heart is set on a zip drive, just get an external one.
That's what the SCSI port on the back of your mpc is for.

Also, be aware the your old beats from the 2 kXL may not load properly into the 2K classic.
If I remember right, sounds and sequences are compatible but programs aren't so you would have to reconstruct your pgms from the old samples.

The answer to utilizing floppy discs, the higher I pitch it the smaller the sample
I am not overly bothered, just fancyed the option of zip

MPC-2000 classic doesn't have IDE port. To make situation worse, it doesn't have internal SCSI port neither. It was one of the main reasons I moved on to XL. Other than poor data management, MPC-2000 classic is nice machine though.
Other thing, I would not go for Zip drive, if I were you. I don't know how much precious data has been vanished from Earth because of Zip drives / disks crapping out...

I also have a 2500, this replaced my late 2kxl. I got the 2000 because I prefer it's gruff to the modern clean sound, I always had luck with the xls zip

Everything is backed up on hd, the 2000 just gets fed my processed sounds for instant amazingness

I see, so you have 2500 and 2000 right now. I've seen many MPC-2500 users come back to MPC-2000, that is interesting see. I haven't tried or used MPC-2500 yet, I kind of want to try it out some day. Does the sound that different between 2000 and 2500? (I guess this has been discussed many times here, but I'd like to hear from you, since you have two machines in front of you to compare.)
Anyway, Zip drive is bad, MO drive is much better! But you have to get external Zip drive, since you can't install SCSI zip easily on 2000 classic.

Well that's just it!

Nearly everyone on here slates users for saying a 2000/xl is better than a 2500
But I think that's just kit envy

With them both side by side I can't say which I would sell first if times were hard
But:

The 2000 does sound so much nicer

The 2500 is faster to chop and store sounds

But I use the 2000 so much more

The mpc2000xl was the best bit of kit I ever bought, I was so excited about getting the 2500 when the xl died but it has disapointed me no end
