when you just can't seem to get the timing right

001.01.95 sounds too early and 001.02.00 sounds too late. RRRRRGGHH!!

Is there nothing that can be done??

go into step mode and then change the timing to off. then go to it with the arrows

it has nothing to do with the timing correction. Unfortunately, this is the resolution of the sequencer. There are no hit points between 95 and 00. I know your frustrations.....TRUST ME.....I've pulled my hair out many o' times.

yeah....i suppose if you work out how long the time interval between 95 and 00, you could add a tiny little bit of silence to the start of the sound you want to put there, so that it will play at 95 but you wont hear it until say, 97

^^^ but it doesnt work that way... after 95 it loops back into 00 and no blank space between 95-00.. youre just thinking maybe theres 5 more ticks but isnt listed but it loops right away.

its 96 ticks per note btw!!!!and 768 for 2 bars... wip out your calculator and work out where you want to place your stuff.....

i'd say this is could be a good reason to sequence, say, a 95 bpm beat at 190 bpm.

How slow is the track you are working on? I sometimes notice this very slightly & usually editing the start point of the sample sorts it out.......but I'm normally doing deep house tracks around 120bpm. It is going to be much more noticable the slower the tempo.
bidi's idea is good. Have the MPC running at double the tempo so you have 192 quantise points, not 96. Just think of 1.02.00 as 1.00.48 & 1.03.00 as 1.02.00.

It is in the low 90s for the bpm. I'll try doubling it and see what that gets me. Thanks, everyone.

try changing the timing from 1/8 to 1/8(3) or 1/16 to 1/16(3), until you get that right timing, i discoverd that sometimes i was trying to record 1/8(3) drum patterns while i had the timing set to 1/8. I fyou do this no matter how you tap the buttons, the mpc will quantize the pattern to whatever number the timing is set to.

oh and dont put too much swing on to the snare.. about 53% with 3-5ticks faster or slower.. You can then go crazy with the kicks, I usually put 75% late and about 6-11ticks... it works well if you want that boombap swingy type.

this whole thing is one of the main reasons I stopped sequencing with the mpc and went with logic. Sometimes you want the snare or kik just a fraction earlier and no matter what you do, it just isn't quite there. Then you move other things around to compensate and before you know it you're losing your mind. One solution though is to leave a little bit of space before your samples...maybe the same amount before all the them. That gives you room to work with. If you need the kick to trigger a little earlier when the beat loops, you just move the start point a fraction closer to the beginning of the wave form.

whoops...and what you need to do if you only want to make the change to one of the kicks but not the rest, is copy the sound, rename and replace the hit you want, then mess with the start point.

or you can just move it manually in step edit move...^^
