ANYBODY USE THE FIRESTUDIO PROJECT FOR TRACKING DRUMS/SYNTHS?
I NOTICED A BIG DIFFERENCE IN SOUND WHEN I TRACKED OUT INTO THE FS PROJECT AND WHEN I USED TO TRACK OUT OF MY MACKIE VLZ3...ARE THE MACKIE PREAMPS STEREO AND THE FS PROJECT MONO??? HAD MY FANTOM/MPC GOING THROUGH IT AND IT DIDNT SOUND FULL OR STEREO AT ALL...THINKING ABOUT GETTING A STEREO PREAMP FOR BOTH. 4 CHANNEL W/ADAT I GUESS...ANY SUGGESTIONS?

GOT A DIGI 192 I/O I'LL BE USING ONCE MY HD CORE CARD GETS HERE

Lol, usually it's the Mackie unit that's thin

Your mixer had a Gain Control, Equalizer, and Volume Fader to control your output, the Firestudio only has a Gain.
Different amounts of the above can alter your sound.

And yes, your Firestudio inputs are Mono, and your mixer would have been Mono as well, unless you were recording through the Stereo input channels of that mixer.

Interfaces sometimes come with some sort of a Cuemix software (usually installed by disc), if your inputs on that are for whatever reason set to -10dB instead of +4dB, that can have a similar effect as well. If you are already using Pro Tools (you mentioned a 192i/o), you may have control over this in your preferences also.

Not knowing your gear usually = more money wasted.
Get to know your gear.

True. Didn't get into the manual like that because I only used it with Reason before I got my MPC. Sold the Mackie and the FS needs to be repaired. Using the 192 IO now and everything sounds warm and phat.@Lamp you still using that Extreme?
