Another Iomega zip drive just died, looking for suggestions

Hello,

I haven't been hear in a few years so please excuse my ignorance. I have a 2000 and went to use it recently to find the external Zip drive dead. Had to pry the drive open to get the zip disc out. What is the best way to store files at this point in time with this machine? Is there a company that can install an internal zip drive in the 2000?

i suggest avoiding zip drives altogether... maybe look into the cheapest scsi alternative... hard drives.

Any helpful threads here where I can get info about these hard drives?

I actually really want to get a replacement zip drive so I can access all of my past work. Is there a thread here explaining all the external zip drive options for the 2x?

if you are dead-set on getting another external zip drive, you have 2 options,

100mb scsi drive and the 250mb scsi zip drive (must have scsi id and term switch)

you can try ebay. but eventually you will want to back up all your sounds to hard drive or card reader (best option).

also, the next time you want to get a zip disk out of the drive, take a paper clip (unbend and make straight) and insert into pin hole above the port (right side) and zip disk will pop right out. No need to pry the drive open.

What model 250 mb zip drives work? Do all scsi models work? How about the Z250S?

yeah, a z250s would be a scsi. this drive has the scsi id and term switch. not all models will work so it must be scsi.peace
