**IDE CABLE DONT MATCH WITH MAINBOARD *HELP PLEASE*

PEACE TO ALL,
I NEED HELP. IVE BOUGHT ME A CARD READER WITH IDE PORT.
ON MY MPC 2000XL IS AN ATAPI/IDE PORT WHERE I CANT CONNACT A NORMAL 40 PINS IDE CABLE! WHY? DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL IDE CABLE?

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE THAT SHIT STRESSSING ME SINCE DAYS

You need a hard drive (ribbon) IDE cable (40-40pin-female-female)....are you putting the cable in the right way? Take photos of each step your doing...it makes answering the questions a lot easier.

homey ive tried it with this cable and put that on the ide/atapi slot on the mpc mainboard! iam definalty shooting later somepictrues and will upload it on this threat!
do u have any kind of instant messnger where we could talk directly fam?

can i use i sd card reader also with the mpc?

You need a 40 pin IDE cable. The cable you pictured is a 39-pin cable with pin 20 keyed so it can be oriented correctly into a PC. If you look at the end of the cable, you will see that one of the pin sockets is solid.

That cable is not going to fit in your MPC without modifying the motherboard or the cable. You can drill out the hole in the cable to get it to fit or find a IDE cable that has 40 pins. I wouldn't mess with modifying your MPC as you may cause more harm than good.

you know on the cable one of the holes is filled in? well take a pin, a blade, or what ever... and gouge out the filled hole on the end that you will plug into the mpc...

then plug it into the mpc. BOOM! It fits!

what? you are supposed to connect a card reader with it... why would it be dangerous? just make sure you do it with dry hands.

allright my last question fam if i cut the atapi cable and connect it with the power connector from a pc can must i care anything?

I should have been more clear. Do not cut any pins on the motherboard IDE connector to make your current cable work unless you know what you are doing.

naw i dont do that but u said i should or could pull a leak on the ide cable one 40 pin right? how can i do that ?

You can cut a small hole into the connector using a drill with a small drill bit.
