Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I just made some new drum programs, Im kinda irritated how its nowhere close to using up the maximum sample time, its just the fact that I can only have 128 total samples on 2000 classic. is there a way I can just get one long sample and access different start points? Already I'm considering the 16 levels trick but I want to be able to quickly mix and match my kits. (and yes, I have set aside more than 128 individual sounds for just a single drum kit  )

faking it via 16 levels and velocity->sample start is the only way i think.
you'd need to know at what point in time each different velocity value triggers the sample...and bear in mind that this might change depending on how your vel->start param is set.

user peterpiper made a nice measurement within the last year or so that shows in hard numbers how this param works. i'm not sure where to find it though...but it is in the forum.

this is the limit i hit most frequently too on my 2kxl (though i believe we've got 256 over there).

Even with the 16 level trick you won't be able to trigger a samplestart beyond roughly 5 sec. When you use this trick the value 127 sets the start point at the start of the sample the value 0 will set the playing startpoint to 5 sec..So no startpoint after this.

I can't see a workaround for the way you waant to use the 2000.

why try to over-complicate things?? the MPC2000 is a very functional sampler if you actually use it as intended... i don't think i've ever used anywhere near 128 samples in a single beat... are you from the bomb squad or something??
