it's everything i expected...unfortunately i'm not very educated/experienced when it comes to processing/tweaking the effects....are there any tutorials or anything along that line, someone can put me on to that will give me a better idea of how to approach learning how to use it to it's full potential....and actually break down what each effect does????

for me the meat of effects is delay. sure you might want a little reverb if it feels necessary, you might want some flange on a sound or whatever, but these are not nearly as everyday useful as delay.

two things i use delays for constantly:

use delays to write out hihat lines. instead of programming each hit, use delays to extend one hit to two, three, four, eight, whatever. you will notice that the interaction of delayed hits (usually a bit quieter) with programmed hits causes the hats to sound much more flowing. also, say you have the delay set to 16th notes, you can adjust the timing a couple ticks early or late for more of a swing. this kind of stuff sounds good on kicks and snares too, with delays on drums sometimes thats all you need to get some really programmed sounding drums to come out all tight and loose like a straight break.

for bass. same kind of deal. delay near but not exactly on whatever beats you want it on. gets things sounding wetter, smoother, knockiner. something about how it gets quieter and off the beat a bit, and then snaps back when you retrigger can really tighten up (or loosen up) an idea.

the effects alright.. it really depends on what sounds your using and what combinations of effects. sounds great on looped one shots of synth samples and pads. i luv a bit of delay/reverb/mod with the rotary speaker on a nice rhodes sample. you could probably get better outboard effects for the same price, but hey its inside the machine so no extra boxes and cables.

name some outboard effects units you'd recommend
