Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi MPC Heads,

It is an honor and privilege to post my problem on this forum and seek help from my peers.

I love my MPC2000xl and decided to pick up Ensoniq asr10 to add to my humble studio. I am a newbie to the asr 10 but have started to learn quickly.

I have a problem and have searched for some answers. I have looked at the asr10 manual, I have googled, and even searched on this forum, and cannot find anything.

The ASR10 boots fine from the floppy with 3.53os. I connected a scsi cd-rom drive and scsi zip drive and inserted a zip disk and did a 'format scsi drive', changed the scsi I'd to 5, and formatted the zip disk. Copied the os from floppy to the zip disk and added default directories. No problem.

I, then changed storage drive to scsi id 3 (scsi cd-rom drive) and loaded an Ensoniq formatted sample to the asr10. Changed the storage drive to 5 (scsi zip drive) and did a 'save instrument' and received the message 'disk error type'.

What exactly does the 'disk error type' message mean?

What am I doing wrong?

What am I missing?

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I tried many different things including formatting a zip disk and not copying the os to it, also tried the above with a compatible card reader and formatted a 2GB cf card With the ASR10 and I tried to save an instrument . . . still got the 'disk error type' message.

I realize this is an MPC forum but some of you use the asr10 and I would greatly appreciate your expertise, thoughts, and ideas on how to overcome my dilemna.

Thank you

There is now a sub forum for other samplers and beatboxes, with a thread dedicated to users of the Ensoniq ASR-10/ ASR-X. Theres a lot of info posted there, so go through it and repost if you have to.
