There is another more versatile way to do what you want here.
If you have the 2000XL, Check page 69 in the manual (page 81 in the pdf).
If you have the classic 2000, it's page 70 (page 82 in the pdf).
Here you can copy events to the same track, a different track or, even to a track in a different sequence.
You can select which events to copy, by range of notes, or between two points in the track (or both).
You can also specify where to drop them into the destination track and choose whether to have them replace what is already on the track (if anything) or to merge the events with what's already there.
You can do a bunch of other stuff here too.
It's worth saving your work before attempting this kinda edit just in case it doesn't go right , so you can return to where you were before you messed up but, I'm pretty sure the UNDO SEQ button will also help you out here.
I'm not going to explain any more , just get reading and experimenting.
