Pad functions as slider

I bought a used 2000XL. The Slider, the 1(song) button and one pad aren't working. I assume I'll just have to replace the slider and the button. But the weird thing is, when I check my pads, 12 are working fine, one is dead and another functions as slider. When I hold the pad it triggers the slider. And when I actually use sounds, it really does function as note variation.
Anybody familiar with this problem/knows a solution?

Well you could have a short circuit somewhere inside the machine, at the very least look into replacing those pad sensors and possibly the NV slider too. Hopefully you didn't buy a lemon...

Yeah I ordered a new slider and new pad sensors. Inside doesn't look like anybody touched it before so that's good.
I hope the new pad sensors will fix it. But anyway the store refunded the costs for the replacement parts so that's good.

On a used machine?

I presume they didn't know how to test the MPC properly when they got it...sounds like a great store to buy stuff. Replacing the pads is routine maintenance on a well used MPC.

So, replacing the slider fixed the problem!

haha nah, replaced those to, I meant it fixed the weird problem with the pad triggering the slider. because replacing just the pads didn't fix it
