Timestretch crush

Hi there!

At first I want to say hello to you all!
I'm from Poland and honestly we don't have so many specialists to deal with MPC 2kxl problems

I got strange situation because when I'm gonna to use time stretching function and after then, chop the sample on 16 zones... MPC stops on screen "processing".

So, if there's any idea what's going on? Could it be processor or just motherboard problem? Or maybe something is too much covered by dust ;p

My first idea was to reinstall system but it doesnt help any more...

If you got similar problem, please give solution because it irritating a little

is your ram full?
for each zone it would need to make a new file in ram - if it is full i am not sure how it behaves.

If you're attempting to timestretch a long sample it will take ages and sound shit when it's done anyway! You're better off timestretching in software if you can.

derp - yea i got thrown off by the chopping thing.

timestretchign takes forever on the xl - resampling takes even longer.

Wait i thought he got through time stretching and this was occurring during chopping? Oh nvm read it again, he didnt even get to chopping. yeah only use truncation/time stretching for short percussive hits/drums everything else will take forever.

+1 on akaizer, very awesome program.

It have full ram (32mb) and I was considering that possibility that creating every new zone could take a lot of mem, but on the other hand it's impossible because for example - sample weight 4mb and it's only 20s.

Personally I'd rarther to try using only sampler - even for longer samples (when it's working?) it takes only 15s to do time stretching.

Maybe one of memory chip is damaged?

I try to figure up some solution and then let you know if it's working.

Until I fix my sampler, I'm still waiting for little advice.

OK, I will explain one more time

I load sample (20sec, 4mb)
Timestretch it
New sample put into slicer
Try to slice on 16 parts
Then never ending "processing"

Separately I can do timestretching and chopping - when I try to do it in that order - MPC crush

well it might be because if you create a new zone your making a copy of the entire file? so 4mb x 16 zones could be 64mb? I know chopping is different on the xl.. but thats how zones work on my 2000, then i have to manually select "crop" to remove all the unwanted data.

So... MPC works quite good with shorter sounds - everything is ok. I'm almost sure that I can say goodbye to "processing" screen
Here's my solution - at first just slice, even long, sound to 2 zones, and then chop to 8,16 or different number of parts. I did it few times after timestretching so I hope that is end of my problems. It seems that your theory of sound size multiplication is true.
