Digital i/o question

Im thinking of finding an 208P card for my MPC2000 and have a question regarding the SPDIF connections.

If i use both the digital in and out at the same time , does the MPC always lock to the clock rate embedded in the signal coming into the digital in? (Which i would want it to)

The reason i ask is that i would want to integrate the MPC into my digital setup via spdif and it will not be the master clock source.

Any thoughts welcome

On the MPC2000XL (I assume the MPC2000 would be the same) I can't see anywhere to select the word clock source as being internal or external.

Without testing it, I would guess that it locks in incoming word clock when sampling through the digital input, and that it runs on internal word clock at all other times.

That is correct.. It locks to the external digital clock via the spdif connectors (no word clock input) .. it only supports up to 44.1k so if you have a soundcard or something that outputs 48k it isn't useable.
