Question about the MIDI out on 2000xl

I found the mpc2000 classic manual was a bit misleading, I was hoping that the velocity switch could also be used to have a single pad change MIDI output notes for controlling an external sound module. Unless I'm doing it wrong, I found it does not. Can this be done with the mpc2000xl?

i don't think so - it is set up in the simult screen, and you choose which pads are triggered in each velocity range. however you are still triggering the same pad-base - if that makes sense.

if the setup is similar to the way it is on the classic, i would doubt it is different.

yeah this is probably true, I just had a double take moment looking over the MPC2000 manual pg 99, "The following example generates MIDI note number 65 up to velocity 44 and 36/A02 between velocity 45 and 100, and53/A16 over velocity 101."

It wouldn't be hard to do this anyhow with certain MIDI routers but it'd be nice if it could happen on the PGM file itself. oh well.
