Workaround Broken Jog Wheel

Does anybody know a workaround for a broken jog wheel while I wait for the rotary encoder? The shift+slider method only works for sometimes, such as when I am dealing with numerical values. Thanks in advance.

For typing in words you can use the pads and editing samples use the wheel.

Take small peices when it comes to samples that helps but yeah it's a nightmare hence I am getting mine fixed at the end of the month.

Mpc-stuff are sending em the part and I am doing it myself.

i'm not sure how you would switch some functions, such as the disk select or file type, but for anything with a numerical value you can just type it in.

Except for bar # in song mode! WTF, that always annoyed the shit out of me.

I guess it is a bit off topic, but I've bought about 6 of rotary encoders, from mouser (they are about 3 bucks each, if I remember correctly.) so that I can replace it whenever I need (of course you have to solder it though.)
I haven't used my MPC-2000XL for while... I've been too busy...

I've written about the rotary encoder for 2000XL (in details) on MPC Forums, please search my postings.
The rotary encoder used on MPC-2000XL is very common parts.
Anyway, my theory on why 2000XL's rotary encoder craps out so often is that, I think the diameter of the jog dial is way too big for the rotary encoder, it would give too much uneven pressure.
