Turntable?

i just got a vestax truntable how can i hook it up to sample off of it i have a mixer wit the MPC,trion,fantomx?

We dont know what type of mixer it is so ima keep it basic........just plug it in and put a 1/4 inch male on both ends one in th headphone / monitor and the other in the record in on the mp...........

it's a Yamaha MG10 so where would it go again sorry im new to this

what type of vestax, do u have to ground it?? if not just bring it straight into the mpc if you want..

im useing a dj mixer its a Rane TTM52I MOJO series

turntable to dj mixer, dj mixer to mg10, mg10 headphone out to mpc inputs... thats how mine is hooked up, u can always boost the signal from the headphone control and the main volume.. im not sure if this will work for your set up but it should give u an idea... i got so much ish in my set up this works for me as i use the mg10 like a little router and my yamaha01v as the big dog mixer in my set up..

I got a quick question; Why do you connect the MG10 to your MPC via the Yamaha's headphone output? Why not use the MG10's master out?

I would just take the signal from the main outs of the Rane, it will shorten your signal path a give you less noise.
I use a UMX-5, that's how I sample from a TT.

because i have the main out going to the yamaha01v which is my main mixer to monitor whatever i want to sample... whatever sources i sample from are going thru the mg10 like tape, cd, minidisc, turntable, tv, etc..

this would work too but u can only hear records when ur in sample mode...

How come when i sample off something it wont loop right when i hit the pad it plays mad times

u have to loop it urself, the mpc wont do it for u... u prolly have it in poly, switch it to mono so the sample cuts off everytime u hit the same pad.. first get an idea of the tempo of the sample by loopin it and seeing the bpms, then chop and do whatever u want cause ull know at what tempo the chops will work and stay on beat.. oh and im in elizabeth, right by u in jc..

Those portable turntables aren't that good for sampling. The signal's a tad thin compared to a full-size turntable with a heavier arm and better needles.

very true, i have the vestax portable and its pretty weak, i just take it diggin with me, i have a stanton to sample but i heard the numark portable is pretty good..
