How do I sync my Korg M3 with my MPC?

How's it goin' guys, I've been using my M3 for the most part since I've gotten it & my mp has just been sittin' there, but now I'd like to hook up my mpc to my M3. I got a midi cable running from the M3's midi in to the midi out of the mpc & vice versa. What's my next step?

1. connect midi out A on the 2000 to the midi in of the M3
2. setup a 16 track sequence with track 1 set to MIDI 1A, track 2 to MIDI 2A...track 16 to MIDI 16 A

So on each track you should be able to send midi data to each of the 16 receivable channels of the M3. On every track you should be able to play the M3 with the pads.

Now to send a program change on each track. Check page 31 in the korg manual for more info.

1. Go to Program on the MAIN screen and dial til it says No. 1
2. Press WINDOW
3. turn ON transmit program changes
4. press close
5. now change No. 1 to other values. You should see the programs changing on the M3 screen for midi channel 1.

You can also set these values in the Program change window in case you need to set Bank MSB an LSB. This all gets saved (along with pan and volume setting in MIXER mode) in your sequence. So the next time you load your sequence and press play, it sends volume, pan and program changes to each receiving midi channel on the M3.

You can do all this if you have other modules or keyboards using midi port B, C and D. That's 64 external midi channels...64 external sounds from keyboards or modules.

He might need to turn local MIDI off, on the M3, when both MIDI In and Out on the M3 are connected to the MPC, to prevent the M3 keyboard from triggering the M3 internal sound engine directly.

In this configuration you are using the M3 keyboard as a MIDI controller for the MPC, to control any connected MIDI module through the currently selected MPC track, and the M3 internal sound engine as an external MIDI module for the MPC, to playback MIDI coming from the MPC whenever an MPC track is set to the M3 connected MIDI output.

No idea about the M3, but you can possibly set it up in a multi/combination mode, and set different sounds to each/some/all of the 16 MIDI channels, and then play/record those 16 different sounds at once using different MPC tracks.

Yo, really appreciate the help. Sorry I'm just getting back to you now, but I was at Coachella & then I got back & had all this shit to take care of & I've just been really busy. But I digress, back to my quandary. Now how exactly do I set track 1 to MIDI 1A, track 2 to MIDI 2A, so on & so forth? Again, appreciate the help.

On the Main Screen, the lower half displays the track data, probably set to Tr:01 to display the settings for track 1.

Change S: (Track Type:MIDI Channel/Output) from DRUM:OFF to MIDI:1A

Change Tr: from 01 to 02, make the changes above, but increment the MIDI channel to 2A.

Repeat for MIDI channels up to 16
