MPC 2000XL 8 outs/Zip error

What's up MPC forums. I'm having some trouble with my 2000xl.

the problem: I'm trying to successfully install the 8 outs on my 2000xl, but when I power on the MPC, it cant find the zip drive, and automatically says no FLOPPY drive found.

OS: 1.14
Zip Drive: IOMEGA Z100ATAPI


So, I unplugged the 8 outs, unplugged/plugged in the zip 40 pin connector, got the ioware 3.1.1 on a zip disk, and through a series of powering off/on the XL, the zip drive became recognizable again. However, if I try to plug the 8 outs in again, the same problem occurs, and the zip drive is not recognized. Basically, I'm trying to understand if there is something wrong with either of the parts, or if there is a specific order to install the 8 outs with a correct OS or something (I did everything according to a tutorial vid on youtube). I'm still new to the MPC (a few weeks deep) but I've been producing with reason for the past 2 years so it's not all that mysterious. I'm just frustrated as to what could be causing the problem, and any help would be greatly appreciated so that I could get back to work lol. Thanks.

It does not matter the sequence in which you install the expansion boards or media drives.

The MPC will say Floppy not found when it cannot detect any storage media installed in the unit.

You've already checked your cabling, but please check again that you are not plugging the cable for the 8-outputs into the floppy drive slot on the motherboard.

It is possible that you have a faulty 8-output board or cable. Look at the ribbon cable for the 8-outputs for damage. Also make sure the 7805 regulator (IC 522) which stands vertically on the 8-ouput board is not twisted and shorting out.

Beyond that, without having a multimeter to measure voltages it is difficult to troubleshoot further.

Any chance you can take pictures of the inside of your unit?

Thanks MPCHunter, she's working again! I went and checked the 7805 regulator and it was bent, so I fixed the positioning. I also noticed the cable was a little more tangled than it needed to be, so I adjusted those wires a little more appropriately. Thank you for the help, it is beyond appreciated.
