Sync mpc 2000 xl with mpc 1000?

Hello. I need some help.
I am working on a sample based-beat on my mpc 2000xl. But i want to add some live guitar on the beat. I can use audio tracks on my mpc1000, but not at the XL. Is it a way for syncing them together ?

I know i can just "sample" the beat from the XL to the 1000, but it would be way better to sync them like i do in my daw.

I have tried to put on midi clock 1A in both, and put in midi-cables and the sound-cables. But i cant make it work.. Anybody who knows?

And do anyone know other ways to work with them both together?

Isn't possible to load the XL program + sequences onto the 1000?
