.sample in MONO with a MALE rca to 1/4" male. You can always copy it once you track it, then assign L & R (pan) on your external or virtual mixer
.if you are using a Y cable that has 2 rca's on one side to single 1/4, only use 1 rca from the source.( try to find which channel has the stronger signal, usually it's R ( red ) and R should always be red. But in some cases L could be stronger/cleaner
.you can use an insert cable ( Y ), just only push the 1/4" 1 click. that's ghetto mono, and again sample with only 1 rca coming from the source ( if it's analog or battery powered )
Nothing's wrong with Vcr, you'll just get more noise that you'll have to filter or whatever out and you get the lower bit rate with analog on an analog link, but with skill, you can make it sound nice on the mpc, especially if you have the fxcard or a compressor or like another member mentioned, running it through a dj mixer with eq's. Before ADAT's, cd burners and MD recorders- hardcore cats used to record their masters onto VHS.
