Back up SD Card asks to Overwrite duplicate files

This has been bugging me for some time, I have filled up my SD card again and usually dump it to Mac osx ppc desktop , but I always have trouble with files longer than 8 Characters long , the Mac sees these as Sound1~1 and obviously when I have more than one file with the first 6 characters the same then the Mac can't tell the difference ... I think its to do with ATAPI FILE TYPE TRANSFER and the Macs way of dealing with this...

Either way I would like to know if its possible to make a RAW BINARY file copy of the SD CARD without the MAC trying to deal with the files ....
I hope someone has had a similar issue and found an easy way round ,, obviously it makes sense to keep file names to maximum of 8 Characters ,

As most MPC 2000xl users know the default prefix for New samples is "Sound" and then it attaches a number ... There is a way to change the default as the MPC loads , If Anyone knows how please fill me in before I start filling a New SD Card , should I be able to back this up first that is..

yeah I try to stick to 8 myself but this last month I made a few long names ... just need a backup method (RAW) if poss.

yeah I know I know , but given that i have an sd with loads of long names ... how do i make raw copy...

I know its possible , as you can do it with all kinds of data like pc disks , Playstation disks etc...

someone might know .... with out just saying (like my grandma) "I Told You To Wear Clean Underwear, Now you got run over and the Ambulance man can see your skids "

Hey just found this , for PC though and Shareware ... It kind of rings a bell from the 90's on my emu sampler ...

SOLVED IT ...

No need for any extra programs or PC...

DISK UTILITY works if you click the Volume of your SD Card and then click NEW IMAGE ..

creates a .dmg file that when opened gives a complete clone with EXACT amount of files as original , with all duplicates , just as MPC writes it ...

Just make sure to allow Read/Write to the new image when asked before starting copy...
