My MPC 2000xl Keep Reading SCSI Not Ready!!!!

Hello fellas! ok, yesterday I tried hooking up a 250 MB internal zip drive to my MPC...when installed, it cuts on & off!! so i took it out and hooked up the 750 MB zip drive, and when installed it Smoked!!! i finally said screw it & hooked my floppy back up....well now when i hook my external zip drive up, the MPC reads 'SCSI Not Ready'.....i have another drive coming soon to see if the drive could be shot, but i really want to know if anybody had that problem before & how to fix it????...what do you guys think it could be??? Thanks for the help!!!

Sounds like you wired up the internal zip the wrong way, that would account for the shut off happening, as for the smoke... You have cooked something

Scsi not ready error is a blown smd fuse (not what smoked)

Thank you very much for your reply! the new drive arrived and it's now working!! i'm now able to make beats again...the technician says that the old drive was doing the click of death!!! but i'm glad that it was an EASY fix!! thanks again for your response and i hope that this may help whomever's in need!!....one last question??? how do i activate the note variation slider??? youtube has no videos whatsoever on the topic!!
