Bought MPC on eBay, Need help fixing it up!

So I just go this MPC on eBay.

I understand that there is probably a little more wrong with it than this guy listed and I am sure that the problems he listed may be a little worse than he is letting on.

Here is what I need to know:


WHAT do I do to fix these issues? This is my first MPC and I need to kind of be babied and walked through the steps.
What parts will I need to fix these issues?
Will this be a difficult fix?
It doesnt seem like it will be but I am honestly not entirely sure.


If someone could kind of mentor me through that would be fantastic, thank guys.

well there isn't much mentioned in that auction. Good price though. I think you might (by reading what he wrote) need to get replacement plastic buttons.. it seems like maybe the clips that hold the buttons in may be cracked but he says they still work which would suggest the tact switches under the plastic buttons still work.

the f1 and f2 dont always work well.. that sounds like the tact switches may be a bit worn out... that may be fixed possibly with deoxit or similar type spray. It is worth maybe doing all the tacts at the same time.


The main thing you will want to know is the condition of the LVD screen display..


also, the machine appears to have the 8 output expansion.. this is a score having that option as well... and maybe you will find the eb16 fx expansion card installed... make sure to check the mixer screen to see if you can access the fx edit menu. The good thing there is, with the 8 outs... you may be able to recoup your cash if something really bad is wrong with the mpc by parting it out.

Well the auction said the screen worked so that should alleviate the biggest possible issue.
Just go to MPCstuff and look at the parts for the 2k, that should give you an idea of what parts are related to the button issues mentioned.

If the typical cost of the 8-out is $100 then you got the MP for $62 which gives you a pretty good price margin for a few tact switches.

Let us know when the unit arrives at it's true status.

yup... even if you can't completely fix it, it's worth it for the 8 outs & screen alone... a steal to get an MPC that cheap.
