can a pad cut off another pad?

I was wondering is there a way that a pad can cut off another pad by that I mean say I have a sample on 1 pad playing and I want it to cut off and start playing a sample on another pad as soon as I hit the other pad is this possible?

On the Program/DrumX/PARAMS screen, move the cursor to the Voice Overlap: field, and press the Open Window button.

While either note set in the Note: field in the lower half of the display is generated, the note is muted when a note displayed in the upper half of the display is generated. This is convenient when you want to stop the sound of an open hi-hat with a closed hi-hat.
