I just got my own mpc 2000xl with 8 outs and max ram

what are somethings that all of you did when you first got your mpc? i know i'll have to read the manual from front to back just to begin to tap into its power but what else should i do in order to better familarize myself with this machine?

I think the first thing I did was see what the longest stereo sample I could get off a record was. My previous sampler was a Casio FZ that could only manage about 20 seconds in mono.

Read through as much info on here as possible.Look into all the topics you think may have something you can learn from.Especially look into the "Newbie Bible."Congrats and welcome to the mpc fam...Peace.

I can't stress the enough. Read the manual thoroughly. I downloaded a PDF manual 6 months before i copped my MPC and read that b*tch like a novel, took it to the bathroom with me the whole nine.

Then when i got my MPC, i was able to fire it up right away and start building.
