Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I purchased a 2000xl a year back at a pawn an store for $100. Not to bad of a deal.. Until I got it home an it said not enough space to sample... I heard that meant the mother board was fried so I just cut my losses and let it sit around and collect dust. Then last week I came across another xl at a different pawn shop. It had the 8 out and the cf card reader. I picked it up for $150 and I made him throw in a old yamaha qx-3 sequencer. Haha. But I got that home and realized that the analog inputs didn't work as well as the cf card reader didn't work either. So now I'm stuck with 2 broken xls. Damn. I have a regular 2000 that I love but I'd love to. Get going on the xl. Whats my best plan of attack? Could I make one working xl out of both or should I sell them both and just buy a working one?

not enough space to sample? did you checked if you have 32MB of RAM, to me sounds like your MPC is stuck with 2MB default RAM, so probably you just need to add extra RAM and you will be good... if that's the case just remove 8 outs from your 2nd MP and install it on your 1st one, if the CF card doesn't work most probably pins inside are bend or broken, if that the case try to fix then, if they are broken then that's just garbage, you can always sell the MPC and get at least part of your money back

I would think between two Mp's you could fuse together one good one. If both screens are without lines and clear then they will both cover the cost of your total investment if you throw them on ebay. (that is only if you decide to scrap them and not make them work)
