Bad sound quality when sampling from vinyl in MPC2000XL

Wanted to buy my MPC2000XL since forever, and have finally got it! There´s loads to learn I know, and I have received a lot of great tips from this forum, but there is one particular crucial thing that I can´t get my head around.

Edit: Since first posting this, I have recevied some tips, eliminated some probable causes, and the updated status is now this: The problem is that the sound out on one channel (left), when playing any sound, gets a distorted noise on the left channel.

it's not an issue with the ground?

Grounding was my first thought also.
Secondly, could it be a feedback loop due to your cable connections?

What type of cable are you using to connect your mixer to the MPC?

It is the left one (white) input that makes the noise and that I think is busted. Have tried different cables and adapters but I think it´s inside the machine unfortunately...

so it also happens when you plug the red plug into the left INput of the MPC ?

After even more research and trying different things out to understand this issue, I have now noticed that it is not only when sampling,but always when a sound is played, no matter what sound. It appears when nothing else is attached to the MPC, so this eliminates all cable, mixer, turntable issues. It is not an effect card issue (EB 16). I have opened up the machine and taken the EB 16 effects card out, and the issue was still there. It´s always on the left channel, never on the right. It doesn´t matter if the sound played is my own sample or if it is a sound from a downloaded drum kit.

I´ve uploaded a small sound file where you can hear the sound. On the first hits I have used "Full Level", and then I have disabled Full Level just to hear it even more.

A good way to understand the sound is when, in Mixer Setup, I change the Master Level to say -72dB (eliminating the actual drum sound/volume when hitting a pad), then you ONLY hear this distorted noice, on left channel. If you change the Master Level to 12 dB, the noise is still there, but hides behind the forced high volume drum sound. So changing the Master Level is not the issue, this only "hides" the noise. As you can here on the soundclip, the sound it makes is something like in a 70´s space video game when you bomb an enemy plane, digital distortion kind of... And it is ONLY on one channel.

Have been sitting with this issue for countless hours now, and will keep on doing so. Will update status here as I continue, and if anyone has ideas on how to fix this issue I am always super-grateful for ANY tips you can help me wih.

It sounds like the issue is on the output side, rather than the input side which you first assumed.

A few things to look at:

Do you still hear the distortion in the same channel when listening on the headphone jack?

Also inspect the Volume/Gain PCB for damage, broken traces, broken wires. Does the issue get corrected when you move the volume knob during playback?

Thanks MPCHunter! Yes I think it is an output issue too now...

Yes, I still hear the distortion in the same channel (left always) when listening in headphones.

When I turn the volume up the noice also gets turned up. But please note, the noise is only there when playing a sound, never when there is no sound in standby mode. It appears when playing a sound, weather by hitting a pad or for example when choosing sounds from the CF card.

Will check the Volume/Gain PCB for issues, good tip!

Without having great knowledge in this machine´s hardware, I´d say it feels like there is a ground issue on the left channel in this machine. If so, does any one know if it is the Volume/Gain PCB board or the actual mother board I need to replace?

Handed the MPC over to a Korg/akai/Roland service dude around the way. It was actually a hardware problem. Hade to exchange some digi output. All works fine now. Thanks for all the help!
