upgrading os on 2000xl

so I have the os update on a zip disk but when I put it in and try to upload the file nothing shows up and it says not ready. I'm not sure what's going on, any help would be appreciated.

Side note too, if you format a zip in Windows there's every chance an XL will never recognize it again even if you zero it out on Windows and attempt to format in the XL. I learned that the hard way.

I'm not sure, I got the disk from someone online since I don't have any way to put things on a zip disk. Nothing shows up, no device or file.

Does the Zip drive work with other Zip disks, but this Zip disk does not show up at all?

there was a zip disk that came in it when I got it but it does the same thing. Could something not be attached inside?

When you say that no device or file is showing up, that seems like a problem with the Zip drive not working properly.

If someone has sent you a Zip, it does not work, and the Zip that you have does not work, and the Zip drive is not showing up as a device for the MPC to access, then I think the Zip drive is possibly broken.

would I be able to hook up an external zip drive and update that way?

do you know which ones will work with the xl?

Think the model numbers are : Z100s and Z250s but there may be more.





Must admit I didn't realise you could update from a Zip disk. Thort you had to use a floppy. Hope it werks for you.

You will also need a 25 pin to 50 pin cable, if it doesn't come with one.
