How to: backup akai zips on pc or mac

Im looking for the easiest way to backup my zip collection.

on pc the zips are not recognized. do I need to load linux to save my zips?

I want to copy the whole zip content onto a hard drive in order to move it then to cf.

I have xp, win7, win8 or osx at my disposal

any help is welcome...

Im actually looking for a way to save the whole disk without having to load each prg/seq into the mpc first. I have GBs of zips and having to load each beat/project would take forever.

Ok...in the meantime it looks like going through the command prompt (the oldschool DOS way) on win8 works
So far I copied 3 zips via the "copy *.*" command onto my HDD.
Will move it now to the cf and see if the mpc can read it.

My goal is to have the content of 4 zips (=4 folders) on a cf card....

will report back how it goes....

Ok here is the FINAL solution (as dos didnt work with all zips)

1. use

http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/

to backup (read) the zip as .img file.


2. open the .img file with

http://www.poweriso.com/download.htm

3. move the files and folders from poweriso to cf (or wherever u need)


...so far I have moved 7 zips to 1 cf card...
....alot more to go....

i 'm not sure if i get it right but i don't see the difficulty on that. I 'm having an internal zip drive on my pc, each time i finish a project i put the zip disk on the pc and copy the folder (as is). You should be aware of 2 things, 1. names no more than 8 chars, and 2. never open that sounds or use them with the pc (not always but sometimes can destroy, files). Hope i helped...

I got no idea about mac's to be honest. But with my pc (windows 7) is really an easy job, with the internal drive

but the problem is not with the zip drive, is cause pc's are unreliable, mine died yesterday...

I'm glad that I still have my PC with Windows XP.
I have an internal floppy and external Zip drive installed, and a backup hard drive for everything.
It's become a valuable tool, just like my old pentium 1 running Windows 95, which I used for old Akai rackmount samplers and other relics.
I learned years ago to always keep these machines ready for whenever I need them.

The more I think about it, the more I miss my S-Series samplers. I was thinking about selling the MPC2000 and buying a 2500. But I may end up keeping it and buying another s950 or s612.
