What was the easiest software you tried?

I was curious for those that decided to give software sequencing a try, what was the easiest one to adapt to coming from the MPC2000xl? Not that you actually left the MPC, but in terms of workflow which did you find easiest and maybe similar to the MPC workflow? For example: Maybe going to the MPC Renaissance / Studio, which seems like a no-brainer was easy or maybe you actually liked Fruityloops or Logic or even Maschines workflow even better.

reason is cool because it's like a virtual version of a hardware rack full of equipment... you can even wire it up and all that shit by pushing a button and the rack flips around.


fl studio is pretty damn powerful... and the way songs are built is very similar to the mpc... making patterns (sequences) and arranging those patterns to make a song (like song mode) but actually they expanded on that system and added a lot of ammo.

maschine is cool.. great pads in my opinion... some people hate them, I find them awesome. it's quick to build on that once you learn the program....

I'm not really into the mpc studio and ren so I can't say first hand.... but it isn't a software I would want to install even after the updates.... but it should be similar to what you are doing now except with way more features.

I'm more about using Reason with the MPC. The combination of hardware and software in the rack acting like hardware, the 2 worlds mesh very well for me, especially with Reason 7 having MIDI Out. There's more combined tools at my disposal to keep me busy for a long time. It's hard to get bored with a setup that I find extremely flexible. An iPad with Thor would be a nice addition, though.

...daw's are always way more complex than a mpc hardware setup....

but at some point you got to take this step anyway....

and there is no big difference between cubase, pro tool or logic....
reason is a bit different...so is ableton...

but end of the day, they're all the only real deal to the finish line.....no matter how hot your stuff on the mpc is.....

and it's a tough way to get there....

biggest bang for the buck is logic x.....the manual is great and you find the most video tutorials for it...and if you can handle that, you handle them all....

^^ For $199, Logic is definitely a great choice for Mac. If I were to go the VST/AU route, I'd make that my other DAW.
