2000 classic just added eb16

I am able to access the FX Edit tab now that the eb16 is installed. but I'm unable to hear any effects. I don't think my manual says specifically how to use the effects. I turned up the send volume, and played with the on/off buttons for all of the various effects that I am supposed to have, but am hearing no difference. I hit open window on some of the effects options and I see some detailed parameters that I can adjust. But none of this has any actual effect on my sample. Anyone know what I'm not doing? Thanks

in the mixer page where you turned up the fx send... click up and choose the fx send you want to send to.. you will see mfx1, mfx2, reverb 1 and 2..

so go to that fx send page, click a pad.. turn up the send volume.. click up and move the data wheel to choose the send you want to use.

I know the eb16 is expensive; i payed $200 on ebay for it, whereas my 2000 alone cost $300. so call me crazy. I hear a lot of people saying that it's not worth it because you can always add effects in post. However, once you have it, you are going to use it, and you are going to get your money's worth. The added filtering alone is helping me get a better sound (isolating bass more precisely, etc.), and the reverb on the drums makes a huge difference. I know you can do that in post, but if you can do it on the machine you know you want to. I think it's totally worth it to have that sound more completely dialed in on the machine before going out to a DAW, because as you are working you can tell right away what is going to work and what isn't. It streamlines the workflow.

If you like to play your beats live, that eb-16 is worth it. it can give you an edge over those who don't have it.

a video? i am hardly a viable tutor on the mpc. it's got filtering, reverb, delay, and gain; certainly nothing you're unfamiliar with. i'm actually not even set up to record videos. sorry man maybe in the future but not anytime soon.

I got the EB-16 in both my 3200XL and MPC-2000XL

Seeing as I mainly use the MPC for drums here is what the EB-16 sounds like in the 3200XL.. Same FX, you get the idea.. It's all out of the 3200 nothing else used

All 4 FX slots used.. One phaser with verb and delay from memory on FX1, a delay on FX2, Long Reverb on FX3 and a short verb on FX4

People poo poo the FX and whilst they are no Lexicon they are very usable and convenient.. I really like them, especially on things like claps.

The delay line is a bit of a pain in the ass as I find it quite short especially compared to the older samplers that had longer delays but meh what ever

I'm definitely satisfied with the quality of the effects, being that the EB-16 was designed in '97 or '98. I use delays and reverbs for the most part. They have a nice classic sound, which is even better for a classic sampler.
