Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By cbit Thu Feb 20, 2014 7:29 am
My MPC 2000 XL currently runs the OS version 1.14c.
As I bought an IDE CF Cardreader and this Cardreader does not work, I wanted to update to 1.20. The update process runs without any errors, but after the reboot the MPC still displays OS Version 1.14c. A Downgrade" to 1.14 works without any issues, but when I tried again to update to 1.20, the MPC displays Version 1.14c again.

I am not sure if this behaviour is normal?

Thanks for your support!

Cheers

The file you downloaded is probably corrupted on the floppy. The MPC won't update the OS if there is anything strange during the flash process.

Try downloading the 1.20 version again and putting onto a new disk. You may want to format the disk in the computer before putting the binary on it.

The Startech reader you bought is a passive device and only converts the CF card's pinout to be read on IDE.

99% of the time any issues you have getting it to work on a MPC with the correct OS lies within the CF card you are using and not the reader. So try another card if you cannot get it to work. Not all cards are the same even ones by the same manufacturer.

Other users reported that this reader works fine in the MPC 2000 XL.

That looks like a Startech which works, but you have to use 1.20 OS.

I use that reader on my MPC.

Could you please check this?

Shift + 5 => Shift + F1 => VER

When I do this my version says 1.14c.

When I SHIFT + 8 and click VER it says 1.2.

Not sure what that means, but I hope I answered your question...
