Technical issues

So I've been messing around with my MPC more and I couldn't help but notice that sometimes my machine misplaces my sound assignment. For example I would have a snare and a sample would play where the snare is supposed to play instead. Its an easy fix, I would just go find the pad that has the wrong sound and change it. but whats wrong with my MPC? why is it changing what I have on my pads?

The thing I can think of (I'm on a mpc 5000) is that if u loaded a program (which has stuff assigned to pads) the new program will push the old sample off its pad. If its in a sequence, it will play the old sequence with the new program. If it is happening with out u loading anything new, then I am not sure what else it could be.

I assign a bass drum to Pad A1. Record, or whatever. Then I load up a bass program, which is stored in bank A. The program, loaded later, will put the new note bass not where the bass drum was, because that's what u asked the machine to do.

no, I don't make new programs because it does JUST that. What I do is I manually assign my sounds onto each and every pad.

sometimes i have this issue when recording new samples after i already have samples assigned. when recording a new sample, before saving it cursor down to select which pad you want to assign it to. if the default happens to be a pad you are already using, you will be telling the mpc to replace the original sample with the new sample.

@ op what were you doing right before this happens and what mpc are you on? Be specific and detail everything you were doing before this problem happened.

a more detailed rundown of what goes on is

1. I load up my samples/sequences/programs
2. I play the beat
3. Something is off about my beat
4. I go through each and every track and notice one is playing something else instead of playing the original sample I assigned for that track
5. I go to assign and I change the sound back to what it originally was

If you are having software issues reinstall the OS to see if that corrects the issue.
