Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Can anyone give a quick tutorial for the eb16-fx? The manual is a bit confusing. Worse, it seems the sounds aren't affect by the changes in the parameters, unless I am doing something wrong. Please kindly advise, thanks!

If you don't hear the fx you might havn't routed the pad(s) to it.
FX Mixer page -> raise the volume of the pad you want -> above the fader set the fx slot (m1, m2, r1 or r2).
Then you should hear the effect and can set the parameters on the fx page

Be more specific on the problem you got please.

peace

Did what you said. Still no change.

"Played" around further... Got a response. I see what is going on now. I do understand that Akai did not want to "re-write" some of the steps of the manual in other sections, despite those steps needing to be included. It save big companies paper and ink. Yet, being a Software Engineer that reads the manuals (writes them too), I think I will write a tutorial for the MPC-2000XL use of the eb-16 FX card. If I had the money to get another one, I'd put it in my S-2000 rackmount and write a tutorial for the Akai S-3000 Series of samplers that use it, too. Yet this serves me right for buying it many years ago, and never using it until now. It's been easier using my MPC-4000, MPC-2500, and MPC-500 for effects, when needed. Be on the lookout, I'll have it done in or about June. Gotta finish up Masters' Degree work and make beats to pay my bill right now. Peace and thanks for the heads up.

What on earth are you blabbering on about?

All the info is there in the MPC-2000XL manual and the 3000XL and 3200XL all explained in plain good ol' English. There is nothing confusing about it....

I admit the 2000XL isn't the best written manual out there as in it doesn't tell you how to make Phat Beats tm but it does explain pretty much all the features of the machine and how to use it.

Then there is this brilliantly written thing just dedicated to the 2k XL if the manual is too sketchy http://www.mpc-samples.com/product.php/ ... mpc2000xl/

I don't think any one needs another manual just to tell them how to use the FX on the 2k XL. Never spoke to a single person that said.. S*it man that's some complex shiz can't get it to work

Don't have the beat making bible. But, because I've run into many people in my area with the eb16 installed, and I never used mine until now, the 2KXL manual is not a simple read. Also, I do not need to use that "bible". Besides, how many tutorials ARE out here for the use of this board? Not many, even here. None that I've seen on YouTube or Expertvillage either. Also, why discourage a newly written tutorial? Many here are looking for this knowledge after lots of trial and error. Isn't this the reason why this forum has been made? I bet that you've asked questions here, too.

Oh, a manual can't tell how to make a "phat beat". It has to come from the heart first. Peace out.

It contributes. Do it. I'm sure someone will come along and pick up the EB16, wondering how to use it. They also might not understand clearly the 2K manual. Which you do see all the posts asking about the use of the EB16. Could even add a section for tips and tricks. The begining a short instalation guide even.

Im almost positive there would be people greatful for it. Especially if offered to the community for free.

I had no clue how to get the effect working when I first installed mine and I agree that I haven't seen any tutorials about how to take advantage of the eb16 . However because of prior experience with using effects I was able to figure it out. someone told me how to send effects to individual channels and the rest is improvised
