can an mpc2000 read disks /zips from a mpc 2000xl?

I was informed that it will only read sounds, no programs or sequences. My mellow gave me 4 zips. 3 of them come up as PC and i can see the ALL. but cannot load them. But 1 disk allows me to read the sounds, and it sees the programs and sequences and aps . and all. but when i go to load it says wrong file or disk needs latest OS. This is possible-funny thing is that the one disk i can read, i formatted and gave hhim-he then saved his tunes to it ( and i don't think he re-formatted )-and that's the only one i can read-the conversion is possible and someone out there has the answer. I have an s3000xl if that can aid.

This is whats happening, the 2k see's the structure in which the 2kxl has written the disk but because the 2k cant load the folders you are getting error or wrong file format. What you can do is to load the disk into the drive, turn the data wheel to load snd or wav, press enter and you will have to load the sounds one by one until u are done.......I know its a bummer but its the only way. Then after you finish, resave the sounds and your load up will be faster next time.

thats what i have been doing, one by one. I am running os 1.72 which IS the latest for the 2000straight.

no problem thats the olny way to grip them out but once you re save to a 2k disk you'll be str8......it will load all your sounds up 4 u
