I've just begun to try to step edit in my MPC 2000XL, but noticed that when I open up the window and choose VIEW>ALL EVENTS, nothing is displayed. The only way I can see the event is if I manually locate to the point where it occured in the sequence. I assume that when one views ALL EVENTS, all of the midi data recorded on that track should show up. For example, if you have a two bar loop and you hit hi-hats on every 1/4 note, shouldn't the ALL EVENTS view display 8 events on the hi-hat track (1 for every instance of you hitting the pad)? This seems logical to me, but maybe that's not the way it works. Is there a setting I'm failing to turn on? I hear the events so I know that they are there, but I'm just not seeing any data when entering the window. I'd appreciate it if anyone could let me know if my MPC has a glitch or if I'm just doing something wrong. Thanks.

Make sure you are on the right track. You can only step edit one track at a time but you can hear everything. You have to scroll through the steps to find certain notes at the time you triggered them.
basically what I'm wondering is... if u make a track with 3 instances of a note being triggered should the ALL EVENT display look like this when I pust "step" when on that track? (just an example - window prob looks different)

I assume that the ALL EVENTS screen would show all of the events that occurred on that track. Why I'm asking is, say you want to make an edit on the 8th kick drum you triggered in the kick track... Instead of having to locate to that point manually with no events showing until you reach an instance of the kick, I figured that you would see all of the instances you hit a not on that track and you can simply scroll down the list and select the one that you want to edit. Don't know if this clarifies it more, or if I'm just asking the same question. Thanks for the reply.

You have to go there manually. It doesn't display everything at once like that.

hold 'go to' while you press step, once your in step edit mode. i think this is what ur lookin for......
