Hi Forum Fam.
So I have been helping a local 2kXL owner out recently with installing a harvested 8 out card, from a S3000xl that he purchased.
Had success with that installation thanks to the fantastic guides on this site (and an incredibly talented audio technician friend) however I have now come across this little gem.
The MP will sometimes turn on, sometimes not. I have found that if it is resting on its side (pad side down) that it will turn on then you can rest it flat and use can occur. but turn it off and you can't turn it on again. Bizarre.
If left for a period of time (overnight usually) it'll turn on first time laying flat, and will happily run for as long as you want. But turn it off and, poof, won't turn on again?
So some specs on the machine.
MPC2000xl beige.
8 output expansion.
internal zip drive.
has had a CF drive installed internally but not connected.
When I turn it on (but it doesn't kick) i can hear the power supply ticking so am wondering if maybe it requires a new sup or maybe I've stuffed some wiring somewhere? Maybe a grounding fault?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I get it back and have to fork out money for a test bench and technical doctor locally.
Peace.
