Disk Read Error and Insert MPC 2000 Disk

Can you help with a problem?

I keep getting a "insert mpc 2000 disk" at start up and I can't get past it. I do see scsi 7 when it loads up, but my disk is formatted and has the OS. What else do I need to do?

Assuming your disk (zip) is formatted properly and has the os, I think your drive has malfunctioned. Not sure if you have a floppy disk drive or an external scsi zip drive connected to the scsi port. If it is a scsi zip drive, make sure scsi id is set to 5 and termination is set to ON.

From experience, when I had a zip disk in a defective scsi zip drive, I would get the message you mentioned and scsi id 7.

Done all of this. Still stuck on Insert MPC 2000 disk. Is there a way to boot from start up in a "kernel" system or something. Everything seems to be fine with the drive, disk and mpc. I feel like it's something that may just be under my nose. Sheesh

Have you tried switching out the scsi cable for another scsi cable? MPC and drive and disk maybe fine but if cable is bad then MPC will never recognize drive.

Yes sir. Just reverted back to floppy for the time being and will keep trying. Killing the workflow right now, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks for your help fam

Why is booting from floppy killing the workflow?

Boot from floppy, save/load to/from SCSI.

Does the SCSI drive work, after booting from floppy?

Is the downloaded OS extracted into the two OS files, and are they named correctly?

Have you tried with the disk formatted by both the MPC and the computer?

Have you tried different disks?

Have you tried the "Copy Operating System" function, from the Save screen, to copy the OS files from the floppy to the SCSI disk?
