Need help removing ribbon cable inside MPC (PICS included)

Hey, I'm new here. I came across a problem with my floppy drive & I plan on replacing it soon with a new one I just purchased. In order for me to get to the old one & replace it with the new one I must open my MPC 2000 and remove the operation panel. I get to that part and then I become stuck when it comes to removing the ribbon cable that's connected to the operation panel and the foundation of the MPC.

On page 165 of the official MPC 2000 manual it says to: Do not forget to remove the line connected to the CPU from the foundation of the operation when you’re pulling the top steel metal part off. I'm not sure exactly how to remove it in order for me to detach that cable in order for me to take off the top sheet metal so I can get to the floppy drive. I see what appears to be this latch thing that attaches the ribbon cable to the bottom of the MPC and the other end of the ribbon cable that's attached to this black tab that's connected to the operation panel. I'm not sure exactly where to remove it from & how to do it.

Below are pics of the cable Im talking about. (Ribbon cable attached to operation panel is pic 1 -- ribbon cable attached to MPC at bottom is pic 2) I'm not sure how to remove it properly/safely so I won't harm anything. Any help would be great help (Preferably pics or video.) Thanks for reading.

Pic 2: Ribbon cable attached to 2 prong latch thing.

Pic 1: You do not remove this connector. It is terminated to the PCB. Once the cable is disconnected on the second end you will pull it through the opening when you remove the operation PCB.

Pic 2: Take note of the red line on the cable as this will be the way it will be oriented when you put it back together. Move the latches to disengage the connector from the header.

You push the two parts that are sticking up above the connector, outwards towards the sides of the connector, they work as levers to lever the plug out of the socket.

ok, im about to try that out --

also once i remove the the panel -- and i'm not at the floppy drive. to remove it will i need to remove screws from the bottom of the mpc as well? i see some that where positioned right under where the drive is located.
