Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi 2K owners.

I have this week purchased a 2000XL.

Previously owned a few years ago a 3000.

I was wondering if their is some sort of OS
Vailixi type upgrade ?

I am wanting to trim / line up samples with drums while the song is playing.

I can't seem to do it on this 2000xl, the 3000 had this
feature with the Vailixi upgrade.
Maybe I'm missing something ?

Really liking the 2000xl though..

Has anyone noticed the stereo outputs sound
terrible compared to the optional 8 direct outputs ?
They seem to be on my machine..

Peace.

About stereo vs 8 outs, funny I've heard people say the opposite. Could just b differences from one persons to the next considering most people who own one prob aren't the original owners. I d b interested in hearing from anyone who might debunk this subject.

^ that s what I've always thought, although im sure some cat out there might pull out a/b comps and numbers why such and such....for my own personal music even if there was a slight difference wouldn't affect me really so w/e.

Same here. Some days with some beats I want it to sound grimy, other days and different beats I don't. Can't take people's opinions to heart. What's better for someone else may/may not be totally craptacular to you

Thanks for the replies - very cool !

I have since tested at a friend's studio with proper monitoring
the stereo out vs the 8 out on the 2000xl.

There were 5 heads the room, once we had aligned the channels
(stereo out and output 1&2),to the exact same volume we listened
back and forth a number of times. Material was also recorded
into the AD's on both machines.

We all concluded there was no real difference between the stereo
outputs and individual outputs on the 2000xl.

If channels are not the exact same volume the mind and ears can be tricked
easily which had happened to me at my home studio.

So.. ignore my initial post..

Very happy with the sound of the 2000 - we also went back and forth with a 3000
again at the exact same volume with the same material recorded
and playing back from both machines back to back.

There was not much of a difference between the machines, just internet
folklore from all I've read all over the net.

Again, if the machines are not aligned the same you will think there is a
big difference.

Bummer about the playback / trim - I could do this even on an S1000
back in the day..

Great site !!

Peace,
Mant.
