ive been reading every thread possible but i just cant get it right. been through all the manuals but not clear enough for me. i have my mpc2000xl hooked up to my motif rack. i would lay down a track on the mpc with the sounds from the rack but soon as i try and get new sound for another track i lose the old one. any help would be appreciated

So you want the motif to be playing different sounds simultaneously? You need to be setting each motif sound to a different midi channel number & then make sure each track in your MPC sequence is set to the right midi channel for the sound it should play.

For example you might have your bass sound on midi channel 5 so you need that track on the MPC to be set to 5 (A or B depending which midi out you are using.) Then a percussive synth sound on the motif gets set to midi channel 8, so the MPC track playing that gets set to 8.

I've never used a motif...I cannot even remember who makes it....but you need to check its manual for how to set it up to play mutiple patches.

Look for Multi-Timbral settings, in the manual for the Motif.
