To Mr mpc3000: No, it is not nicely stated in the manual. I.e. the manual is wrong. I can explain how now.
Mr featherboy, I did got it to work. But not as it was stated in the manual.
This is the working method:
1. Sound Forge 6: Load a drumsample, goto "Tools" menu and select "Sampler". Choose the S2000 template as it is compatible.
2, Make sure BOTH midis are connected. Out and IN, as the program works in duplex (request send acknowledge etc)
3. On the MPC choose shift/midi, and select "dump" screen.
4. Make sure the midis are connected to correct input and output in that screen.
5. Send the dump from Sound Forge, pressing "Send". (Here I had a problem with not having selected midi in/out device in the Sound Forge Sampler config window, and then I had to save the template.)
6. The MPC2000 now says "receving..." and the Sound Forge is showing a progress bar. A drumsample is pretty quick to transfer about 10-20 sec. Loops of music is however too timeconsuming, but anyway handy. Sound Forge is a lovely editor.
7. Heres the step that was stuck for me. After dump was finished, no window poped up on the MPC, allowing me to assign sample to pad, as was stated in the manual. Instead, the "receive..." just disappeared and nothing more happened. This is however normal. Next step is 8.
8. Hers the solution. Now goto "Trim" on the MPC. Select sample. You now have a new sample called "midi_01" or something. Select that, and jump to the waveform area, as you now can see the new sample. Move endpoint so it grabs the prefered range of your new sample. Hit play in that screen. Voilá! BOOM! The monsterkick!!
9. Now goto "Program" on the MPC and choose a pad for your sample (that now can be heared) Select decay mode and all the rest. You are finished.
Now, when I had transfered about 20 samples in a row, and was going to spread them all out on the pads, the MPC bugged out on me... I got a window full of debug information, and had to power off.
But Im sure, it was all about me trying to do all at once without saving each step of the development. I just lost all samples. I will do it once again when I have time, this was an attempt to make a service workshop master Zip cartridge as I didnt have any sounds to try the machine out with. I just fixed the initial INITIAL problem (a defective tune slider) and went to bed
