External Hard Drive

Was thinking of picking up and external SCSI hard drive. I got the CF card reader now. Do you think the hard drive would be worth it vs a CF?

Hmmm...yeah that's what I was thinking too. It's pretty easy to just transfer stuff over to the computer and back to the MPC. I'll just stick with the CF.

Just never tried the SCSI so I was curious.

i think the only part I want I don't have at this point is the EB16.

Yeah, I like the idea that it's right in the MPC. The setting can be saved on it too right? That I would love. Load your shit up and you're right were you left off.

Yeah, the cost is what always stops me from buying one. Can almost by another MPC at this point for the cost of one.

I'll probably get one eventually. Maybe after tax season. I'm always looking for deals on them. I've seen a few go on ebay for good prices.

yeah man, when you save all your song's components... all those settings are included.

I would avoid getting the eb16 by itself advertised with it's own listing (unless it's dirt cheap) ... I suggest looking for a machine you know has the card included. Often machines come with it and are cheaper than the board would be by itself.

I hear that. I've seen a few samplers with them sell for less than what people want for them alone. Kinda dumb really.

Cheapest I've seen one right now is $230. Not that I can't afford that, but just seems to expensive.

Pretty easy to add effects after you record and master anyway, which is why I'm just like meh. I can get a lot of records for $230 haha.

It would be dope for live stuff and there's always that urge to max out my MPC. Cause you're never done upgrading equipment right hahaha! Still seems like a cool little effects card though.

I would expect to pay around $150-175, and wait for one in that range.

Not really, it depends on what the effects are, and what sounds you want them added to.

Once it is mixed you can only apply effects to the whole mix, not individual/separate parts of it.

But yeah, I mean after you record. Kicks track, snare track, highs, etc....

$150 - $175 would be good. I've seen them go for that. Usually in a bidding war.

Every MPC2k or 2kxl I have owned has had the EB, i just like certain things about it.

When the 2k first came out I had to wait either 30 or 45 extra days for the EB to be available.
It finally arrived at Caruso Music but at least when it arrived it had the pretty Studio Plus sticker on it.

People just don't seem to get how much things have improved when it comes to gear.

Look at all the stuff that was standard on the 2500 but costly options on the 2kxl.

Yeah, think they were trying to get as much as they could from the 2Kxl.

The 8 outs should have never been an option.

I gotta get me one of those cards! The more I think about it the more I want one haha!
