another mpc 2000xl boot problem

hello guys, this is my first topic in this forum, i really hope that somebody will help!
i've already checked on this forum for similar issues but never found any concrete solution
anyway, the mpc doesn't boot anymore, so i bought the vst os bootrom with os 1.14, followed instructions about jumpers and had no luck, every single time the procedure stops before entering it's menu.
so i've tried removing ram, disk reader and whatever just to make it thru the os installation, no luck at all, sometimes it gives me an error, some others gives me lemons....
i fix old synths for a living, so i've tried to misure voltages and check if there is something wrong from psu, everything is ok, checked for colder joints, nothing to do, checked for dead or leacky capacitors but nothing... i'm starting to suspect that i have a stupid or not so stupid hardware issue on this one

so it used to boot fine, but doesn't anymore? Was there anything done to the machine that could have caused it?


I suggest like you were saying, remove all expansion cards, all drives, the ram... every extra curricular component to narrow down as much as possible where the issue lies. You said it wont boot.. what is displayed on screen? Error codes? nothing at all? Perhaps your eprom where the os is stored is fried?

this unit used to boot regularly until one day when it stops
so i bought the vst eprom, when installed, and jumpers are in the right position i get some very strange messages like this two here

or it doesn't boot at all or it gives me a blank screen.. a nightmare!
tried everything suggested online, removed ram, every other peripherals, no way, always someting like this

ah terrible, well maybe a few guys here will see this and know the issue... hopefully it works out. I always suggest disconnecting all cables inside to reseat them so you know every connection is solid... sometimes that helps and is worth doing anyways...
