Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

just changed the slider on my XL and new one works great but i have one issue since having the XL

i am not sure if its something i do wrong, some system in storage i might not understand or if its a technical issue/defect/error. (maybe a bad idea to manage sounsd on the CF from my Mac?)

PROBLEM:

sometimes i can save a PGM or APS and it will save all sounds with it. (seems like it works rather with new sampled sounds compared to loaded and rearranged sounds!?)

Sometimes i can load it the same way, load one PGM and it automatically loads the sounds too.

but other times i have to save every sound by itself and it will also sometimes only laod a PGM but not the sounds.
So if i save in this situation it will only in a 10th second save the "empty" PGM file but not the sounds with it.... thats really really annoying. Same with loading, i have to load every sound by itself than.

PLUS: i think i also encountered being able to save a PGM WITH sounds but could not load the bundle on a later date. But only single sounds, + a PGM

i started to create folder to save my stuff in, some stuff is on root too, but the chaos goes on....

what am i doing wrong or is this a technical error?

When you save a pgm with sounds don't change the name of any file.
The saved pgm will ONLY look for names of files it was saved with. If you change ANY names the pgm will not find it.

Save APS and ALL all in the same folder, mpc's cannot read across separate folders when loading pgm's aps, all.

as always great info, thanks. i am not seeing clear yet but i suppose thats where my errors are from.

but what i didnt do is changing names of SND files after they were saved, yet i had to change some WHILE saving because of saving to root and having double names (so i used rename) but since it didnt happen afterwards i dont see this to be the culprit.

i may have moved things from root to folders on my mac. i think i can manage to follow this guidline in the future but i dont see how to fix the chaos

Save each project in it's own folder, along with it's PGM's, APS, ALL and all associated samples.

1 project = it's own folder.

I never save to root on 2kxl. Any aps, all on root will autoload. That is a problem when wanting a specific project to load.

Your problem probably started due to misunderstanding the use of folders and root.

How to fix your "chaos". It will take alot of time but what I would do....

Load everything in root, load an aps and all from the same project, when it's all good and plays like it should save that project to it's own folder, aps, all and all samples. Now go back and delete it from root. Do the same for any other projects together in root. After this all your projects will be in their own folders and root "should" be clean of stray projects.

yes thats probably it.
will follow your advice. Thanks!
what adds to the chaos is that i am not on all files able to name accordingly when saving. but i forgot what files couldnt be named... may have been PGM`s

'Maybe' moving the files on the Mac has changed the filenames to 8.3 format, if the filenames were originally longer than 8 characters, and then they are not matching the filenames in the program file.
