Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

is there any way to set a default output to be one of the 8 outs?
i just got the output expander, but im finding it annoying because I want to use the 8 outs but you can't audition anything off the 8 outputs.. it seems by default that the sound, no mater what output it is routed to, always goes to the main outs

it is kind of a stupid design. if i'm building a track with everything going to the output expander outputs, i always have to mute on/off the main outs if i want to sample or audition editing. its just a waste of two channels. anyway around this?
thanks

Just turn the volume fader to the main out down.
Pretty simple, how a real mixer works.

If you set it up properly you will find that what you now have is 10 outs.

Ok think I got it. All pads output at max to the main by default. If i turn that down, there's no longer duplicates of my sends to the indv outputs. Thanks

Good. It works best that way , trust me  :-D

Use the pan control to use right and left main mix outs as individual outs 9 and 10.

You know, that's kind of crazy,i've used the XL for years and never thought of that.I think i might have a few extra cables around here too.
